It may sound obvious, but taste testing food preparation is necessary to ensure that food taste good and on same time hygienic . Even when we do standard recipes , we should always taste food for quality. When we do our taste testing , it is important that we do in a manner that keep the food safe from contamination

2 Spoon method allows tasting to be done in a sanitary manner

We Use 2 Spoon method as follows -

  1. we refer to one of the spoons as sampling spoon . This is spoon that is used to secure a sample of food from the pot or pan of product being tasted

  2. Second spoon is tasting spoon. This is the spoon that comes in contact with the mouth of the taster.

  3. In order to keep the sampling spoon uncontaminated ,the sampling spoon and the tasting spoon must never come into physical contact with another

  4. The sampling spoon must never touch anything but food

Why we use these 2 spoon tasting method ?

  1. It often takes more than one sample to determine if the food is acceptable. By using spoon method , repeated samples may be tasted without the danger of contaminating the food.

  2. second reason is that 2 spoon reminds the taster that the contaminated tasting spoon must never be used to sample the pan .

Practice it

1. Take a sample of the food from the container with one spoon ( sampling spoon )

2. Transfer the product sample from one spoon ( sampling spoon ) to other spoon ( tasting spoon ), away from the original container or preparation area

3. Sample the product by tasting

4. Transport the used spoon , plates or bowls to the dishwashing area immediately after tasting. If disposables are used discard immediately.
