When you are eating food even at your favorite nearby restaurant or Dhabas .How many times we ask ourselves is it safe ? With day to day hustle , modern lives and to get everything within minutes we somewhere compromising with our health.
As per WHO , Every year around 2.2million including 1.9 million children dies due to Diarrhea globally. around 0.2 % of the total world population. As an individual, farmers, handlers to consumers everyone should be held responsible for keeping food safe and making it our top priority. Since food passes through multiple hands before coming to the consumer table maintaining hygiene is a difficult task and we should be up for this challenge .
Beyond the safety of food itself , their are many other factors which increases risk . Food adulteration , food poisoning , allergies are also the contributing factors. Latest surveys has shown that food poisoning is one of the biggest factors which is caused due to excess use of insecticides, biologically modification goes wrong,
Approach for food safety should always be preventive and not corrective which starts from farms and agriculture itself. All food handlers should be involved and trained efficiently
New Threat which is emerging in food is due to climate change on food production , distribution and consumption ,emerging biological contamination of the food chain , new technologies , new and emerging pathogens , antimicrobial resistance.
Being in the industry we should educate our team to make sure the food is safe for the consumers by following all necessary guidelines laid by the FSSAI .
